Inspired by... Heathers Funeral Chic

Heathers is hands down one of my favorite films of all-time. And as far as I'm concerned the best high school movie ever made. But I'm warped like that. For those of you who have yet to experience this cult masterpiece, this 1989 dark, dark comedy starred Winona Ryder as Veronica, the fourth member of the original clique of Mean Girls, all named Heather. When Veronica meets the dark, rebellious new guy JD she unwittingly embarks upon a high school murder spree the pair disguise as a rash of teen suicides. This brilliant satire paved the way for future high school badass bitches, both dramatically and sartorially. And while there's no denying the fashion influence of the Heathers on Gossip Girl's Blair and the girls on the steps, particularly in the first season, it's the funeral fashion that I really adore: structured jackets, bold shoulders, body con mini dresses and black, black, black! How very Fall 09!
