Scenes from a Halloween

Today's definitely going to be a nice lazy Sunday chock full of guilt-free snacking and scary movies. After hitting up a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show Friday night and going out again last night in full-on 80s cartoon glory I'm definitely ready to get vegetative.

If you're as geriatric as I am or simply an 80s maniac you should know who this is. It's Jem, from Jem and the Holograms! I even found some truly outrageous red rhinestone star earrings as a kiosk in the metro. A huge thank you to my amazing friend Nadia and my incredible Mom for whipping up this costume for me.

My make-up in progress...
Friday night on my way to RHPS. Those beams of light are some sort of art installation at Place des Arts that had 95% of the Montreal population convinced that we were under alien attack.

Not-so-great shot of the costume contest. Check out Black Spy from Spy vs. Spy! So cool!
My RHPS make-up look. I was supposed to be one of the Transylvanians

My low-key Halloween decorations: a raven on my bookshelf and a hearty bowl of glittery skulls on my dining table.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, loves!xx

Halloween Decoration Inspiration

I've been wanting to decorate my apartment for Halloween, which is my absolute favorite holiday, mostly for myself, seeing as I've been reluctant to have people over because I don't feel my apartment is quite finished enough. I seriously need to get over that. I just wanted to have a few glam-macabre touches here and there. I found a bag of magenta glitter skulls at winners yesterday but I was hungry and the line-up at the cash was gargantuan so I left them behind. Hopefully they're still waiting for me. The ravens have unfortunately all left the Dollar Store but there are some glitter spiders there I may fill a tall vase with. In the meantime, here's a little home decorating inspiration for my kindred Halloween spirits...
I'm in love with these glittered pumpkins via Made By Girl. Click here for an easy DIY.
Demonstrating that his time spent at Martha Stewart Inc paid off, Eddie Ross whips up
this to-die-for centerpiece. Love!
These gorgeous black candlesticks are lust-worthy all year round. They may just end up
on my Christmas list. via Remodelista.
Oddly, I've never considered myself as a skull person, but I think the glitter skull is my
favorite Halloween decoration. It could find a permanent spot on the bookshelf.
And way cheaper than a Damien Hirst. via Cupcakes and Cashmere
If I can track down one of those Dollar store ravens it's going to be living on my work
desk, all nonchalantly spooky-like. via Cupcakes and Cashmere

Autumn Leaves

Better late than never! Since today is so rainy and dreary I thought I'd share a few shots of the incredibly gorgeous Thanksgiving weekend we had. Beautiful multicoloured leaves, perpetual sunshine and unbelievably warm weather. Last Saturday afternoon the boyfriend and I randomly selected north as our direction of choice and took a long drive towards the Laurentians, ending with an impromptu drop-in on my sister's lovely home, nestled in the woods with their own private little lake (pond?). Beers + rowboat + people I love = Perfection.

Currently...

...wearing this Zara sweater and melting in my absurdly warm office. But the flashy pink cozy goodness is exactly what I needed on this rainy gloomy day. Post-work shopping and a movie should also provide an adequate pick-me-up. Tomorrow: Halloween costume shopping!

Have a wonderful weekend, loves!xx

Blogger Lovin': Flirting with Fall

Shockingly, the fall weather we've been experiencing here in Montreal is still bare-leg appropriate. While it's cooling down as we speak never underestimate the power of sheer denial to keep you warm. With unseasonable warmth, however, comes the feeling of being torn between all the chunky, woolly knits and leather pieces you've just bought/dug out of the bac of the closet that are dying to come out and play and the desire to hold on to summer for as long as possible. I say, why choose? Here's a little inspiration:

Friday Night's Alright for Eating...

Save the fighting for Saturday nights... I found these two incredibly tempting recipes during my daily lap around the blogosphere and I absolutely had to share them:

Putting the Vamp in Vampire...

Aaaahhh... Carine... your pre-Halloween decadence warms the cockles of my cold, undead heart...
Some stand-out looks from Carine Roitfeld's Vampire Ball held last night to celebrate the launch of her new book Irreverent, which has a nice cozy spot on the early draft of my Christmas wish list.

Death Becomes Her: Carine Roitfeld

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld: babelicious demon spawn...

Anna Devil Russo! (yikes, these are getting worse and worse)

Anja Rubik: Mistress of the Dark

Karolina Kurkova looking quite Terri Nunn-ish.

Ricardo Tisci post-snack attack

Fangtastic: Karlie Kloss & Abbey Lee Kershaw

My favorite, I think: Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld & Giovanna Battaglia:
Bloody. Gorgeous.

The vamp next door, Miranda Kerr.

Angel of Death: Natalia Vodianova

Olivier "Type O" Theyskens
(Is this reminding anyone else of the credits on
Simpsons Halloween Specials?)

Must... not... use... words... "Wang Sandwich"...
(In other news, Vanessa Traina! Rrwwaarr!)

Like a red-hot poker brandished by Satan himself, that Bianca Brandolini is!

I'm not sure what's up with Beige and Beiger mucking up the
evening's colour palette like that, but I like it anyway.
